It’s been a busy month working on the Comprehensive Plan update. We kicked things off with a survey at the 4th of July parade (which is still available, if you’re interested in participating) followed by two Stakeholder meetings and an Advisory Panel meeting on July 26th. Our first Stakeholder meeting focused on the Rural Residential areas and neighborhoods, and our second focused on the Old Village. The Advisory Panel has been working hard discussing the land use plan and the Old Village. Overall it’s been a successful month, and we have a full schedule ahead in August that includes our first Public Open House on August 23rd scheduled from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the City Hall. Make sure to mark your calendars and stop by to see everyone’s hard work, and to give us your feedback!
The Advisory Panel is scheduled to meet next week, May 31st, for their second meeting. On the agenda is visioning and goal setting, and an introduction to the land use discussion. It should be a great meeting, and we hope to see you there!
The City of Lake Elmo successfully kicked-off the Comprehensive Plan project last week! The Advisory Panel (Panel) held its first meeting on Wednesday evening (April 26th), and the City’s consultant team joined in at Arbor Day with a short activity to start the planning discussion with residents.
The Panel was given a short introduction to the Plan development process, and were asked to participate in a SWOT (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats) analysis about the city. The results of the SWOT will be used in a future Panel meeting for visioning, goal setting and strategies development.
At Arbor Day residents were asked to identify their favorite place in the city, and their least favorite place and/or a place that needs improvement. We got great feedback and intend to use this information as we move forward with the visioning and goal setting process.
